Kallah classes

You're engaged. The date is set. And there is a lot you haven't learned yet.

I'm Andrea. I teach an eight-part kallah course for women preparing for marriage. We go slowly and calmly: the mikvah, the chafifah, the halachos you will live with, and tefillah for this moment in your life. Halachic questions go to your rav. The rest, we take one step at a time.

Eight sessions · 1:1 with Andrea · in person in Ramat Beit Shemesh or on Zoom

Where you are

The hall is booked. The gown is ordered. This part can't be ordered.

Between the vort and the wedding, everyone has a list for you. Very few people sit down with you and explain what married life will ask of you, and why. You might be feeling some of this: "I don't know what I don't know." "I'm embarrassed to ask." "My friends each told me something different." "I want to get this right, and I want it to feel like mine." All of it is normal. None of it needs to be rushed.

What this is not

I'm your teacher. I'm not your rav.

I teach the process and the meaning behind it. I don't pasken. When a halachic question comes up, and it will, it goes to your rav. That's how it should be. This is also not therapy. It's learning, done calmly, with someone who wants you to walk into your marriage clear and unafraid.

The course

Eight parts. One steady arc.

We start with the big picture and move toward the details you'll use every month. By the end, you'll know what to expect, what to do, and which questions to bring to your rav.

What we cover

Introduction.
Week one. Where we're going, how the course works, and room for whatever you walked in carrying.
Going to the mikvah.
The process, step by step, so the first night is familiar before you arrive.
Chafifah.
The preparation before immersion, and how to make it manageable.
Kesem and mareh.
What these terms mean, and when a question goes to your rav.
Harchakos.
The hashkafah behind them. Why distance can hold a marriage together.
Hilchos onot.
The framework you'll live with each month.
Tefillah for the kallah.
Davening for yourself and your marriage, in this season and after.
Review and your questions.
The last session, close to the wedding. We go back over anything that still feels unclear, and you leave knowing which questions to bring to your rav.

$600 for all eight sessions, paid in advance. Paying up front is part of the commitment, and it means we can spend our time on learning, not logistics. Reschedule any session with 24 hours' notice.

This is for you if

  • You're engaged and want to learn before the wedding, not during the week of it.
  • You want a calm teacher you can ask anything.
  • You want to understand the why, not only the what.

This is not for you if

  • You need a psak on a specific question. That belongs with your rav.
  • You're looking for therapy or counseling.
  • You want a single crash session the night before.

About Andrea

Andrea Schulman, portrait

I'm Andrea.

I teach kallahs, and I teach them slowly. I live in Ramat Beit Shemesh with my family, and I've spent the last fifteen years working with frum women at the moments in life when the next step isn't obvious. I'm also a trained coach, so I listen as carefully as I teach. My aim is simple. When you stand under the chuppah, this part of your life should feel known, not frightening.

Questions

Before you ask.

Is this one-on-one or in a group?
One-on-one. It's just you and me, so you can ask anything.
What if I have a halachic question?
Bring it to your rav. I teach the process and the hashkafah behind it. I don't pasken, and the classes don't replace your rav.
Do I need to know anything before we start?
No. The first part is an introduction. Come as you are.
How far before the wedding should I begin?
About two to three months before the wedding. That leaves room for eight sessions at a calm pace, with the last one close to the date.
How much does it cost?
$600 for all eight sessions, paid in advance. Reschedule any session with 24 hours' notice.
Where do the classes take place?
In person in Ramat Beit Shemesh, or on Zoom if you live elsewhere.
